Music School and Pre-School
We are proud to upload the photographs of Palama Settlement's Music School and Pre-School. As part of our digitization efforts, we have added the records of these two series that you can view here.
Photographs of Palama Settlement's Music School feature student musicians and choral and band members rehearsing and performing at various venues. Notable images document performances at Mayor Wright Homes on October 15, 1955. Other photographs capture interactions between music instructors and their students.
Photographs of the kindergarten program date back to the early days of Palama Chapel at its former campus on King and Liliha Streets. When the campus moved to its present location on Vineyard, the kindergarten unit added a larger playground. The preschool program developed during World War II to provide childcare for mothers as they entered the workforce.
