Football (1920-1960)
We are proud to present to you images from the Football set of the Athletic series in this collection. With the digitization project, we continue preserving fragile photographic prints and making them available to the general public through our online catalog.
The American football team at Palama Settlement began in the fall season of 1920. Many of the players would participate in the Barefoot Football league, a unique sport found only in Hawaiʻi. As the Palama squads won championships and prestige to the Kalihi-Pālama neighborhood, they leave cherished, lifelong memories for the team members and their families.
